Playing together since junior high in Houston's 5th Ward,  Felder, Joe Sample, Wayne Henderson, and Stix (later, brother-in-law) Hooper, launched The Jazz Crusaders, later The Crusaders," while in high school.

The Crusaders  - pace setting, progressive, versatile.  These phenomenally successful childhood buddies recorded 42 albums.  Mastering the mesh of their individual sounds with other musicians, The Crusaders have been involved in more than 200 gold records - more than any other group.  (The man is so humble, he didn't tell us this. We had to hear it from NBC news anchors...)

Felder: "Some musicians today can only play one sound.  Take them out of their environment and they are lost.  I'd like to see more musicians who are well rounded."

Playing what he preaches: Felder's anchored  the works of  Steeley  Clapton  Four Tops  McKirkland Franks  Gaye  Joni Mitchell  Diana   Seals & Crofts  Love Unlimited Orchestra  Cocker  Tina  John Cale's Paris 1919   B.B.   Withers   Womack   Nancy

Wilton enjoys considerable solo success: “Inherit The Wind,” (my brother's favorite) went to #4 on Billboard. “Secrets” peaked at #8. "Nocturnal Moods" "Let's Spend Some Time"
